Our Goal

Clubhouse

This clubhouse project will be a community effort. As other communities in our area make significant investments in their public courses through taxpayer support, it is critical for Glencoe to first invest philanthropically to ensure the Village’s only public golf course can remain viable. This project can only come to life through the support of community donors those who believe in this Village most—and who know that, together, we can shape a public golf club where everyone in Glencoe can have meaningful experiences for generations to come. This project is rooted in the vision that the people of Glencoe have for our community’s future. In 2019, the Village conducted a community-wide survey in which Glencoe residents identified a number of needs in Glencoe. In that survey:
  • 73% appealed for an increase in restaurant options;
  • 48% desired additional events spaces;
  • 74% emphasized the importance of green space, and;
  • 96% want to enhance the quality of life in the Village.
The clubhouse project at Glencoe Golf Club will meet all of these community needs and bring a renewed vibrancy to our Village. It will feature: • A full-service restaurant and bar with a terrace overlooking the course, where all members of the Glencoe community can dine with their families, have cocktails on the terrace, enjoy the sunset, and host birthday celebrations or holiday events. • A private conference room with food and beverage service and a view of the course where community and civic organizations or corporations can host meetings. • Ample space to host golf outings, a critical avenue for revenue that will help the Glencoe Golf Club remain self-sustaining. • A state-of-the-art indoor teaching academy to accommodate lessons and instruction in the off-season. • A regulation-size croquet court that will create a new, distinctive recreational opportunity in our Village. Glencoe has always been a civic-minded community, with thoughtful investments in spaces and projects like Writers Theatre, our revitalized downtown, the nationally recognized Historical Society, top-notch park district properties, and so many others. With every new project, Glencoe becomes a more vibrant and interconnected Village, strengthening its status as a premiere destination for life and culture on the North Shore. This collective effort will enable us to create more of the meaningful experiences that make being a part of this community so special.

Regulation Croquet Court

A unique feature of the clubhouse renovation project is to integrate a green that would be sized appropriately for use as a regulation croquet court. Croquet is a fun, challenging game and is a sport that can be enjoyed by all ages with minimal stress on the body. An addictive game of strategy and skill, croquet has been described as a game of chess on grass. The facility would become a member of the United States Croquet Association, which is in need of courts for local and national events. Croquet is a perfect family sport that is played in a relaxed, social environment with a long tradition of sportsmanship.

Bicycle Repair Station

A bike repair station is included in the site plan of the clubhouse project to provide the biking community a valuable amenity. The station will provide bicyclists support with tools for quick repairs and air for their tires. Just a short ride from the Green Bay Trail, the most popular bike path on the North Shore, the Golf Club will become a welcomed respite for bikers to rehydrate, reenergize and tune up their bikes if necessary.
